Get comfy, ya’ll, because this is gonna be a lengthy one all about one of my biggest inspirations – Dulce Candy. I’m going to give you all a little background story on who this fabulous Latina is and why I encourage you all to go over and check her out here on the interweb. Dulce emigrated from Mexico to Southern California at a very young age. She and her family faced the struggles that many of our Latino families faced here in this huge country as the minority and often times, lower class. She joined the military after high school and served as a trained Army mechanic in Iraq (pretty bad
ass, right!?) for quite some time. During her time in Iraq, she began to create videos and posting them on YouTube as a way to pass the time while being so far from home without ever imagining what an impact she would have on the lives of so many young girls and women throughout the years. Her dedication and motivation have allowed her to attain so much excellence and in 2011, her fairy tale got even sweeter when she got married and had her baby boy!
Today, she has surpassed 2 million subscribers on YouTube alone. At the young age of 28, she has created an exceptional name for herself in the beauty industry and in media. Her success includes establishing incredible partnerships with some of the leading brands in the country, such as, Neutrogena, and even being featured on TV (2016 GOP Debate)! Aside from being an extraordinary model of career success for Latina girls who have also emigrated to the US, she continues to spread a strong message of positivity and self-worth with the hopes of changing the way that women and girls view themselves and one another. Last year she released a book – The Sweet Life: Find Passion, Embrace Fear, and Create Success on Your Own Terms – that she created about dreaming and achieving those dreams … being who you are UNAPOLOGETICALLY! Sure, she has awesome style and great beauty tips but the true beauty in this FEMMEpowered Latina truly lies within her heart.
